Beyonce wins AOTY at the Grammys & grab your cowgirl hats....COWBOY CARTER TOUR OTW

Beyonce is one of the biggest stars in the world and to many...one of the greatest artist of all time. And as an honorary beehive member, a young black woman, and a creative this was not only monumental, but it was bigger than just an award. Beyonce created this album to help break down the barriers in the music industry when people try to box artists black or white into categories they think they should be in. But why is this so significant in for this win to happen at the time it did at the beginning of black history month. I'll tell you why. A few years ago Beyonce attended country music awards where she performed with the legendary Dixie chicks and received a very less than welcoming experience rooted in many different -isms. Racism and sexism did not stop her, but she once again turned a negative into a positive. Creating an album that made people go look up the history, to take back what was stolen , to reveal what was hidden, to have fun , to put purpose over money and worldly things .

At the time and atmosphere of our country America, the album arrived at its destiny time. This was a year that not much controversy surrounded the Grammy's but the awards were well deserved. To even be nominated for the Grammys it was a room full of winners, lights, stars. As someone who has been in the business for many years, has longevity, been able to inspire and push the envelope for others; this big star's win felt like a win for all of us.

The beauty about last nights award show is that many of the stars spoke up and spoke out about things happening in the world and close to theirs hearts. I hope that for the future, music and art will bring us together in a time we need unity and community more than anything.

Once again, I'm so proud of Beyonce. People don't know what goes on behind closed doors and the pushing it takes , the perserverance , the trials, the mental challenges, the fight, and also carrying that of being a holder of a big an anoited assignment to spend your life being that because it is bigger than you.
